VULCAN has been designed to carry casting process simulations in order to help foundries to improve their manufacturing process and avoid casting defects. To meet this goal, Vulcan empowers the user to carry out the different kind of simulations.
The Vulcan system includes two software simulation modules: CFD (computational fluid dynamics) for the mould filling and CTM (coupled thermal-mechanical) for the solidification and cooling analyses. The software runs on a Windows PC allowing the simulation of:
Filling the mould with liquid metal
Solidification of the metal within the mould and Cooling of the part once the mould is removed
Residual stresses, thermal distortion and shrinkage through a coupled thermo-mechanical analysis.
The user interface enables the user to define the problem and carry out the analysis as easily as possible.
